Optical Experiments
Optical Experiments is an album using an experimental lens created in 2017. Originally, the lens was a 50mm Pentax kit lens that came with my Pentax K1000. The lens had been loved, however, in 2017 I noticed some issues with it mechanically. I opened it up, only to discover that it was damaged far beyond repair. Instead of discarding it, I decided to do something new with my lens, and changed the orientation of the front element, amongst other modifications. What resulted is a focus free fisheye lens. to get a clear image, the lens needs to be stopped down to f/16, however, wide open creates an impressionistic effect. The last two photos on this album compare a shot of Times Square at the two different extremes of it's aperture range.
